dcr_pos_income.py -- Calculate Decred PoS Income Details

This is a small python script that can help calculate the PoS income that has occured over a particular time period.

The inputs are:

• A transaction file, dumped from your Decred wallet

• Blockchain transaction details, accessed automatically via dcrctl

• A Decred price database file

The script will compute the DCR and USD income for each vote, as well as look up the fee associated with purchasing the ticket that was just used to vote.

Limitations

• Currently assumes USD currency

• The price database only has the opening price, so if the price changed a lot during the day a vote takes place, the DCR/USD conversion ratio will be incorrect.

• Only tested on *NIX platforms (no Windows testing at all yet)

• Somewhat slow on first run (due to all the dcrctl queries)

Prerequisites

1. Save all transactions to a file:

   $ dcrctl --wallet listtransactions '*' 999999 0 false > all_transactions.json
   

2. Download a DCR prices data base from here (direct link):

   $ wget -O dcr_prices.csv https://coinmetrics.io/data/dcr.csv
   

3. A dcrd instance must be running and accessible with default dcrctl options. Wallet access is not required. dcrd should be running with the txindex option turned on.

Basic Usage

$ python3 dcr_pos_income.py

By default, the script will print all PoS income using the verbose output format.
