cathyjf/SekiroFpsUnlockDll

This project builds a DLL that automatically unlocks the framerate in Sekiro, without the need for any manual action when launching the game in the future. This DLL works with the latest version of the game available on Steam (1.06).

When SekiroFpsUnlockDll.dll is loaded into the address space of Sekiro, it automatically spawns a thread that asynchronously patches the memory of the game to unlock the framerate. To make this work, you will need to cause the Sekiro process to load the DLL. The easiest way to do this currently is with SpecialK.

Usage with SpecialK

First, download the latest version of SekiroFpsUnlockDll.dll from the releases section on GitHub. You can place the SekiroFpsUnlockDll.dll file anywhere you like on your computer.

To use this DLL in conjunction with SpecialK, add a section like this to the SpecialK configuration file for Sekiro:

[Import.SekiroFpsUnlockDll]
Architecture=x64
Role=ThirdParty
When=Late
Filename=C:\Users\Cathy\Documents\My Mods\Sekiro\SekiroFpsUnlockDll.dll

With this section present in the configuration file, SpecialK will load SekiroFpsUnlockDll.dll when the game starts. This will cause the framerate to be automatically unlocked.

Make sure you change the Filename entry in the Import.SekiroFpsUnlockDll section of the SpecialK configuration file to specify the actual path to SekiroFpsUnlockDll.dll on your computer.

Configuration

After SekiroFpsUnlockDll.dll is loaded into Sekiro for the first time, a configuration file named SekiroFpsUnlockAndMore.xml will be created in the same directory as the DLL. This is the same configuration file format used by the uberhalit/SekiroFpsUnlockAndMore project. You can view the default configuration here.

By default, the framerate is set to 144, but you can easily change this by substituting a different number in this part of the configuration file:

<tbFramelock>144</tbFramelock>

There are various other options in the configuration file, corresponding to other features of uberhalit/SekiroFpsUnlockAndMore. By default, nothing is changed about the game other than the framerate.

Building from source

If you want to build SekiroFpsUnlockDll.dll from source, clone this repository with the --recurse argument:

git clone --recurse https://github.com/cathyjf/SekiroFpsUnlockDll

Open the SekiroFpsUnlockDll.sln file in Visual Studio 2022 to build the project. Once the build process is complete, you will find the binary at x64\Release\SekiroFpsUnlockDll.dll. You should build in Release mode. The Debug build configuration has not been tested.

If you just want to check out how the program works, most of the code related to the implementation of the DLL is found in src\dllmain.cpp.
