I am excited to release the next version of swiftGuard (v0.0.2)! I really recommend, that you update to this version for security reasons. In the alpha of v0.0.1 are some bugs that prevented the system to shut down properly.

Key Changes

  • Autostart: In the settings you find a new menu entry with which you can enable/disable automatic starting of swiftGuard when the OS boots. So you will never forget to start swiftGuard!

  • Update Notifications: swiftGuard now notifies you if a new stable release is available. It is just a single request to Github.com and only on the first start of the app. You can disable this in the configuration file (check_updates = 0). By default it is enabled, because I am sure a security application in its early development should be kept up to date, as bugs happen normally.

  • Security Audit: Many code analyzers are checking every update to ensure high operational security. Check README for details

  • More Lightweight: Removed unnecessary (resource) files and restructured the whole project.

Sincerely,

Notes

swiftGuard is still in the early stages of development, and your feedback is essential to its growth. While I am committed to making it a stable and reliable solution, please be aware that this is an alpha release, and there may be bugs, limitations and by far no perfect code.

If you encounter any issues or have suggestions for improvements, I encourage you to report them. Your input will play a crucial role in shaping the future of swiftGuard.

I appreciate your support and interest in swiftGuard. Your contributions and feedback will be invaluable as I continue to refine and expand this project.
