jml-build

jml build system

This contains a thin layer on top of Make that allows more complex projects to be built. The commands stay in Makefiles, so there are no extra tools required. It is primarily targeted at C++ projects.

It supports the following:

  • Non-recursive make over recursive subdirectories
  • Dependency tracking for c/c++/fortran files
  • Automated recompilation when the compiler command line changes (due to the addition of switches, etc)
  • Automated rebuilding of libraries when the list of files contained within changes
  • Specification of test cases with the boost test framework
  • Node JS and Python support (to build extensions for these modules)
