Hello, My fancontrol app has stopped opening and when I go to update it shows this.

In C:\Program Files (x86)\FanControl* , delete everything BUT

/Configuration folder
updater.exe

Then run updater.exe.

If you can't delete a dll, take a look in task manager->details if FanControl.exe is running. If it is, kill the task first.

unfortunately nothing would happen after running the updater but thanks for the tip. ended up just reinstalling and saving the config folder.

Thanks, it worked for me - not the exact same error (Newtonsoft.Json in use) though.

Same exact problem as OP for me and this fixed it, thanks!

There was no file that I couldn't delete, so I don't know why the program couldn't run and the updater was complaining.
